Subgroups
Subgroups allow you to create finer segments within a Group. While Groups represent broad categories, Subgroups let you divide those categories into more specific audiences for targeted messaging.
Viewing subgroups
The Subgroups page lists all subgroups across your account. Each row shows the subgroup name, its parent group, and the number of contacts assigned to it.
Creating a subgroup
Click Create Subgroup and provide:
- Subgroup name — A descriptive name for the segment, such as “High-Value Customers” or “Mumbai Region”.
- Parent group — Select the group this subgroup belongs to. Every subgroup must be associated with a parent group.
Assigning contacts to a subgroup
You can add contacts to a subgroup from the Subgroups page or when editing a contact on the Contacts page. A contact assigned to a subgroup is also considered part of the parent group.
Editing and deleting subgroups
You can rename a subgroup or change its parent group by editing it. Deleting a subgroup removes the subgroup itself but does not delete the contacts — they remain in your directory and in the parent group.
When to use subgroups
Subgroups are most useful when a single group is too broad for a specific campaign. For example, if you have a “Customers” group, you might create subgroups like “Repeat Buyers”, “First-Time Buyers”, and “Inactive Customers” to send each segment a different broadcast message.
